Liam joined Grant Thornton in 2017 and brings considerable Aircraft Leasing industry expertise and experience to the Aviation Advisory team.
Since joining the Aviation Advisory team, Liam has been exclusively working on advisory engagements in the aviation sector. Clients include international airlines, global aircraft leasing companies and asset managers.
Liam acted in a senior capacity and led a variety of engagements including:
- Designing and building a pricing model for a lessor trading in mid-life aircraft. The project required a deep understanding of various aircraft types (Narrowbody, Widebody & ATR) and their constituent components. This allowed for detailed maintenance forecasting and lease end scenarios to cater for deal assessments, strategic investment and operational decision-making. This involved working closely with senior management of Pricing/Commercial/Asset Management/Technical to streamline and consolidate aircraft and portfolio appraisal and remarketing strategies.
- Project lead for a Maintenance Reserve and Contract Management CMS Data Quality review of a Top 10 Aircraft Lessor’s fleet. Liam developed both the methodology for recalculating the balances for each Maintenance Reserve applicable component balance and the methodology for the CMS Data Review.
- Responsible for developing an excel model for reporting consolidated results for a portfolio of 160 entities for a top 10 Lessor.

Workshop Stream
Welcome to this year’s Ishka – Grant Thornton Academy - a half day series of masterclasses alongside the annual Ishka Aviation Finance Festival delivered by experts in their field from Grant Thornton.
Ishka continues to raise awareness of the aviation industry and asset class and through interactive educational events we aim to equip new entrants to the market with the tools necessary for a better understanding of the leasing world. For those needing a refresher, the masterclasses will provide the most up-to-date thinking on the three main topics to be covered and we are delighted to be teaming up with Grant Thornton, who will share their technical knowledge and real-life experiences.
Each topic will have a 45 minute session followed by a short refreshment break:
- Data Migration - This will look at the various approaches to navigate complex migration projects. These moves have been catalysed by a trend within the leasing community to move off legacy systems. This talk will detail the challenges associated with these projects and how there are opportunities to introducing efficiencies to minimise the burden on the business.
- Aviation Lease Services - This interactive section will give the industry a greater insight into the Aviation Lease Services offering which currently manages over 1,000 leases. The workshop will focus on the processes and structures in place and how the solution enables the business to focus on the “value-add” core aspects of their business.
- Technical Discussions: Issues in Lease Management - The final class will delve into the technical hurdles lessors face with technical data in contract management systems. During this session we will explore some common issues and solutions we have proposed and implemented. We will also explore best practices in relation to technical document management.
